What Color Are Aspen Leaves?
From afar, quaking aspen often look uniformly yellow. Their leaves fluttering in the wind, provide mellow rustling music to the fall air. Though, in the High Sierra, aspen are often multi colored, as are these, photographed by color spotter Alicia Vennos at Little Walker Lake.
30 – 50% – Mammoth Scenic Loop (8,861′) – This scenic drive loops from U.S. 395, north of Mammoth Lakes to Minaret Road, which leads from Mammoth Lakes to the Mammoth Mountain base lodge. The drive passes forested meadows and dramatic views of the Minarets (a sawtooth range) and Mammoth Mountain. Numerous Jeep roads travel from the loop into the forest.

Beautiful! Thanks for posting.
Wondering if anyone know conditions at North Lake??? Seems like colors are a bit early this year.
I can tell you that around Lake Tahoe things are just barely starting to turn, perhaps a couple more weeks here.
I was also wondering if anyone had an update on the Jackson Hole, Wyoming area?
Keep those photos and updates coming!

North Lake should be peaking, since it’s at a similar elevation to South Lake, which is peaking. I’d say it’s in the Go Now! stage. We only cover California, but fans of this site might know what’s happening at Jackson Hole. It’s certainly lovely there.

Hi – We were in Jackson Hole two weeks ago and things just starting to turn. I saw an image today of the same area and was surprised how much color in two weeks. I would guess it should peak within a week or so.
