Postcard: Mono County
Here’s something new for CaliforniaFallColor.com… a postcard selection of photographs taken on one weekend.
Alena Nicholas sent these sunrise and sunset images of Lundy Canyon, the June Lake Loop and Convict Lake in Mono County. Though it is Near Peak, much of the June Lake Loop has yet to turn. That indicates June Lake will continue to peak for a week to two more weeks. So, GO NOW!
Hello,
I am planning to visit mono county area next weekend (Oct 24-25) to see the fall colors. I am planning to take this scenic route http://www.monocounty.org/docs/PDFs/EasternSierraFallColorGuide20131.pdf
It says the peak time is mid-october. Am I bit late to see the fall color? Will I still be able to see the fall colors in peak in the weekend of Oct 24-25?
Thanks for your help.
Thanks,
Umang
The color should be beautiful at June Lake. It should be peaking, then, conditions permitting.
Hi, are the fall colors at peak yet in Nevada City and Grass Valley? Thanks!
No, still early by at least a week for Nevada City and Grass Valley.
When do you recommend to visit then? Will Halloween weekend be fine?
Probably. Last year, Nevada City peaked during the second week of November. This year, it will likely be the first week.
